Reading Decodable Words
We can read words like this...
cat 🐱
dog 🐶
hat 🎩
red 🔴
Hint- stretch out each sound like chewing gum then say it again to sound like talking.
This might help.
Here is the cat. ( His name is Archie.)
Archie is on the table.
Archie can run.
Archie likes pats. ( hint p-a-t-s )
Archie likes school. 🏫
Let's try some other sentences... remember to stretch out the cvc words like dog, run and can.
My dog can run.
My dog can run to school! ( Oh no!)
Can you read these two sentences?
I like my red 🔴 hat. 🎩
My red hat is on the table.
Challenge. Write a sentence using some of the words found on this blog. The next time your 'My Everything Book' comes home, please glue your writing onto the next page so we can celebrate this learning back in the classroom. Do support your learner to use spaces. Do encourage your learner to illustrate.
Parents Some words don't work when we stretch them out. 'The' should probably be 'thu'. 'Was' should be 'woz'. The word a sounds like u. When you can see that stretching out the sound won't work, please just say the word to your learner.
