Spaces so we can read and write

We have been learning about spaces. If there are spaces, then we can see what is in front of us easily and our brains can understand.

Look at this. How many beans are there?

Like this, they are hard to count.

But can you count them now? If we put spaces between things, our brains can work out the next step.

Spaces keep things in order and stops muddles. These children haven't lined up very well.. looks like no one will get out the door to play.

But theses children have spaces between them. They are ready to walk out the door. Yippee! It is time to play.

We have had such fun exploring spaces in Room 7. Especially when we turn into words ( so, someone pretends to be 'I', the next person is 'like' and so on) Then we all stand close together and then Mrs Tyro is like... "I can't read this!"

So then we have to make spaces between each other (the words) by moving apart. There would be a photo of this but were are usually too busy laughing so clearly, Mrs Tyro is in no state to remember to stop and take a photo..

All of this exploring and play turns into a very important lesson about text. Spaces between words means we can read. Sothereisnopointwritinglikethis.

Please enjoy this u tube clip which explains spaces between words really well.
