Do you remember when you lovely learner brought home a little paper filled cat? Some took home a dog.


Here is some rewindable learning for you to enjoy at home. 

After the story, there are some examples about segmenting and blending words- a key skill to build early literacy. I hope you enjoy this post with your tamariki. Please post some feedback/comments. 




Parent: Make the sound      c       a      t     How many sounds? 3.         Together: Blend it     cat!    

Parent: Make the sound      d       o      g    How many sounds? 3.         Learner: Blend it     dog!   

Look at our cats and dogs in boxes! 

                       




Parent: Make the sound      c       a      t       s      How many sounds now?    Together: Blend it     cats!     

Parent: Make the sound      d       o      g       s     How many sounds now?    Learner: Blend it     dogs!   


Read together:     
Look  at  our  cats  and  dogs  in  boxes! 

Parent ask: Find the word cats. Find dogs. What are the sounds you hear? (Segment the word) Blend it back together- say the word.

Read again- pause at cats. pause at dogs- can your learner read the sounds they see? :
