Butterflies!
Did you know that NBC has a special place right on our door step? Room 7 decided to go exploring...
We went to the edge of the Butterfly garden in the Rawhiti Domain. It was wet so we didn't go exporing but we will on a sunny day soon. Read more here. The Monarchs come to the Domain to rest for winter. The stage in the life cycle of a monarch butterfly is called overwintering. This is what we will try to see next time!
Back in the classroom, we thought about butterflies. We noticed that they are the same on the both sides. This is called symmetry and we talked about this. Then we read the Creation story from our Bible. On the 5th and 6th day, God made many many many things that are symmetrical. We named a few. We then tried a very big challenge- to make a butterfly in our Celebration books and show symmetry. Wow!
We enjoyed a song in class about butterflies. Perhaps your lovely and quite possibly very tired learner might enjoy to listen to it again after a busy and awesome week of school! Next week we will be painting butterflies that will be displayed in a very special place. More on that soon or ask your child- I did explain it to them- see if they remember ..;)
Tino Pai for all of your mahi Ruma Whitu! Parents please write a comment below if you like our butterflies. Happy Weekend. Mrs Tyro
