Celebrating Matariki
This week we will celebrate Matariki through our numeracy and literacy programme. Watch this space....
Meanwhile....
Can you help your wonderful learner to ponder these questions:
These questions will be used in our writing programme.
What do you do with your family?
What do you like to celebrate?
What food do you like to eat with your family?
Do you know a story from when you were a baby?
A baby photo please:)
Coming together to share special stories about who we are and our family is a strong part of the Matariki tradition.
Could you please either provide a photo or send a photo to my e mail of your learner as a baby. jen@nbc.school.nz We will play guess who and encourage the children to use the photo as a way to talk about themselves as a baby- Parents this will need your input of course.
Please share your stories- this is what Matariki is all about!
If you are feeling brave, parents, use the comment box (below) to answer one or all of the questions listed above. I have done the first one to get us started!
Resources that we are using in the class to enjoy at home.
What do I do/ celebrate / eat with my family? Well, I go to the beach with my family. Every single weekend and every single holiday. If you ever see us at the beach, we are the family with everything set up... about 6 surf boards, wet suits everywhere, beach chairs, beach towels or rugs ( brrr it gets cold in winter), books and food .We really love Christmas. My husband and the boys carry some indoor couches outside onto the deck area for Christmas day. Then we enjoy family and friends stopping by to enjoy some Christmas food treats with us. I really love Christmas dinner with ham. I cook it a few times during winter as well just to remind me of the special day to come...yum!!! My baby story: I was born on the Chathams!
