Jesus is the Light

Image
May we all walk in the light.  John 8:12 I Am the Light of the World 12  Again Jesus spoke to them, saying,  “I am the light of the world. Who ever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Thanks to all the blog posts so far children. I am so very proud of you all. Keep up the great mahi.

Here I am to Worship

Image
The children are really loving this song which we have been singing at Mass.  We are very blessed to have Mrs Moore on our staff team. She plays this on the piano for us and it sounds beautiful. You may have noticed that this week's poem is actually part of this beautiful song.  Please enjoy this at home. Discuss the words. God is described as a loving Father. This is a way for us to begin to think about God.  For any budding musicians out there...    https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/chris-tomlin/here-i-am-to-worship-chords-774291  or  https://ukutabs.com/c/chris-tomlin/here-i-am-to-worship/ Enjoy your weekend.

Celebrating who we are

Image
At our weekly school assembly, we sing the National Anthem. We are learning to sing with pride and show respect. We are learning to celebrate who we are.  Please support your child by sharing the National  Anthem with them. Exposure will support your child to gradually learn how to sing it in our three offical languages, Maori, English and Sign Language.  If you have a National Anthem from another country that is important to your family, please do send me the link so we can enjoy it together as a class. jen@nbc.school.nz  Please comment at the bottom of this blog. Thank you to parents who have already left comments on our other posts!

The letter p

Image
We have learnt a few letters so far this term. But, here is a special nod to the letter 'p'. Writing 'p' isn't as easy as pie. Half of the 'p' is under the line. Check this out.

Spaces so we can read and write

Image
We have been learning about spaces. If there are spaces, then we can see what is in front of us easily and our brains can understand. Look at this. How many beans are there? Like this, they are hard to count.  But can you count them now? If we put spaces between things, our brains can work out the next step.  Spaces keep things in order and stops muddles. These children haven't lined up very well.. looks like no one will get out the door to play. But theses children have spaces between them. They are ready to walk out the door. Yippee! It is time to play. We have had such fun exploring spaces in Room 7. Especially when we turn into words ( so, someone pretends to be 'I' , the next person is 'like' and so on) Then we all stand close together and then Mrs Tyro is like... "I can't read this!"  So then we have to make spaces between each other (the words) by moving apart. There would be a photo of this but were are usually too busy laughing so clearly...
