Kindness Week

Image
To Link in with Pink Shirt Day...At NBC we enjoyed a .... Kindness Week! Can your child name the ways we practised being kind this week? There were 3 ways we tried to be kind in Room 7.  Listen to my friends. Say what I need. Share toys and take turns. Can you spy these 3 things in the photos? Learning about the letter 'd' and making me ( I hope) dinner.. Nice turn taking with the plates  and veges Violet and Nikolai. Phew! I was given a lovely meal by chef Isalella. Great sharing Isabella. Looks like Violet is about to say what she needs and some excellent listening ears from Jimmy, Mace, Isabella and Willa as they enjoy their games.  Ok- whose turn is it now with this Owl? Mr Owl is a very popular member of our class followed closely by Miss Cow all dressed in pink.  "Hello? Who is it ? "ok..you can answer now... So this is how we can be kind at school. Please leave a comment below and tell us how you are kind at your house. Room 7 would love to know! We love...

Butterflies!

Image
Did you know that NBC has a special place right on our door step? Room 7 decided to go exploring... We went to the edge of the Butterfly garden in the Rawhiti Domain. It was wet so we didn't go exporing but we will on a sunny day soon.  Read more here . The Monarchs come to the Domain to rest for winter. The stage in the life cycle of a monarch butterfly is called overwintering. This is what we will try to see next time! Back in the classroom, we thought about butterflies. We noticed that they are the same on the both sides. This is called symmetry and we talked about this. Then we read the Creation story from our Bible. On the 5th and 6th day, God made many many many things that are symmetrical. We named a few. We then tried a very big challenge- to make a butterfly in our Celebration books and show symmetry. Wow!  We enjoyed a song in class about butterflies. Perhaps your lovely and quite possibly very tired learner might enjoy to listen to it again after a busy...

X Country

Image
Dear Families We are getting ready for our x country that will be held this Friday in the afternoon. All the information that you need is in our weekly school newsletter.  I am giving some extra support here to add to the details in the newsletter.  House colour Your child belongs to a 'House'.  Here are the houses as displayed in Room 7... The book mark that is in your child's Celebration Book tonight is your child's house colour. On Friday, your child will come to school in the normal uniform and then change into running shoes, PE shorts ( boys, the same shorts are fine) and a house colour t shirt. Other ideas to show the house colour if a t-shirt can't be found are: Hair ribbons, make a wrist band ( cardboard should hold for the day) or get an old t-shirt, turn it inside out and get creative with some paint !  Where are we running? We run in the Rawhiti Domain just next to our school. Let's hope fror another beautiful day like this! The focus on Friday is fun...
